Fliguy (Short Edition)

By Daniel Raúl Vargas Villalba
Charles was a regular guy in Rockstar Middle School in New York City. He had the hope that someday he could fly.
One day he was leaving his classroom and some guys took him by his shirt.
“Hi, Fliguy”
“Ha, Ha, Ha, see who is here... the guy who thinks that he can fly, pff”.
“Yes sir“ Charles said.
They took him by his shirt and put him in his locker with a paper in his Shirt that said: FLIGUY.

When they left he said to himself: “Jerks”.
He saw a teacher coming and he (as in the teacher)helped Charles get out of there.
The story was repeated every day.
The bullies laughing at him because he believed in himself and he believed that some day he was gonna be able to fly.
He did not like it, and he cried everyday when he get home.
His dad told him to fight and punch them on the face and his mother told him to just talk to them and ask them to stop.
But he was afraid of saying anything to those high schoolers.
30 YEARS LATER…
Charles was a very obedient guy.

This was his routine everyday:
He woke up at 5:00 in the morning, he thanked god for one more day of life, then he went to the workshop to help his dad earn some money.
One day he went to a bar to have dinner with his son and his wife and he saw that some guys were coming to his table. The guys from school, the bullies lighting a cigarette and a beer.
“See who we have here...”. “Fliguy!”
“Do you fly?” “Try to fly little guy, try it Fliguy”.
“That’s not my name, jerks!” “And just a heads up...” Charles started flying around all the bar.
He was kind of in a fantasy world and thanks to his effort he did it.
He paused everything and punched them on the face and then started play again to the world.
He had strong arms, he flied and everything, all thanks to his effort.
And those guys ran away from the bar because now they were scared of Charles.
